Abstract—This paper places technology primarily under Kenneth Burke's Pentadic term Agency and discusses the Act of learning as it is influenced and motivated by the Agencies of technology within the emerging Scene of Online Learning Systems. Using as a paradigm a newly-developed online course, Rhetoric of a Global Corporation, in which students study the rhetoric in the music, films, and religious expressions of the Walt Disney Corporation, this paper analyzes the impact of various forms of technology on the learning process. It applies the Roman rhetorical canons of heuristics, arrangement, style, mnemonics, and delivery to the act of online teaching and learning, and considers the various learning styles in the process.
